During the summer, I always crave fresh vegetables. My mother always grew a huge garden, and makes a delicious salad from greek cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, fresh herbs, with olive oil and vinegar dressing. And all of the amazing things she can do with a zuchini--bread, fried, steamed, cheesed, etc. And her bottled goods--salsa, spicy peppers, jam...I could go on and on...

Ah Alina you are making my mouth water! I could honestly live on salad and potatoes. Nothing else. Especially an herby Greek / Bulgarian salad....

Stephen, I admire your stomach : ) I wish I could eat pot roast & potatoes & gravy but having been vegan in the past my stomach couldn't handle it. I hope you get that good Sunday dinner as often as possible!

I should probably be on a Vegan diet, but... it would take my stomach and my aching heart feel sad for such a long time.

I agree that taters are great. You can boil'em, mach'em, stick'em in a stew.

What home-made goodies do you create Mim'ster?

oh no, i WAS vegan for 5 very happy years but now i eat fish and dairy. meat (chicken) very rarely. i love all the foods of the earth and though i was super healthy and so happy as a vegan, i like sharing food with people. veganism was good for me, but some people do very well on lots of meat — it's a personal thing.

my favorite food to make is spanakopita — bulgarian / greek / mediterranean spinach pie with feta cheese. yum yum. simple dishes, mainly. anybody want to share recipes? i want to become a better cook.

today i had moules meuniers : ) mass murder in my kitchen (you get the mussels live and steam them for 5 minutes — voilà!) oh so delicious.
