what the world eats
A gleaming photo essay on the foodways of various peoples... Just radiant. I feel like I've been invited to dinner all over the world. What an honor it would be to eat with any of these families... Going by these pictures, I would most like to spend a week in Egypt (above). In part 2 I wonder if Luxembourg is going to eat the chicken and the dog?

It looks like they either want to eat the dog, or they hav a roster pet...hmm...interesting these Luxenbourgeois...
The french table looks pretty good :)
I also liked the Bejing one in the part I.
What's yur favorite food ever Maria?
and it's amazing to see how much beer these germans drink...
...and how people think pepperoni is a vegetable...
yeah i thought the 2 american families were pretty accurate from my experience here. i don't know how they are healthy enough to function! it's a hard question, but if i had to name one favorite cuisine, it would be middle eastern. my favorite dish (besides anything my mom makes) is coconut kurma at bombay house in provo.... : ) : )
what's your favorite food? coq au vin? steak frites? sauce bechamel? connard confit? pommes frites? : ) : )
ô sweet Bombay House!!! I don't remember their coconut kurma... another thing to try in life.
Some of my favorite food has got to be real these real mexican fish tacos. When it comes to french food, let's see... I like cheese fondue and spinach quiche... but the Nec Plus Ultra has got to be Moules Marinière avec frites arrosées de vinaigre et accompagnées d'une petite salade verte.
What does your mom make?
What a fabulous idea! How interesting! And, how embarrasing at the same time--the western world consumes everything--and when it comes to food, much of it unwholesome (me included). That pile of green bell peppers (the Egyptian family) was a dream come true for me, I adore them.
Green peppers? I had 3 today! One at 2pm, one at 3, and one at 3:30 (times are approximate). They are the best snack in the world.
My mom makes these very simple but immaculately flavored things out of potatoes, mint, and a couple other ingredients. They are a cross between Italian and Indian, if I had to explain them. Thick soups, or bakes, usually her own idea, and oh so heavenly. She also makes her own filo dough (there's a pic from an earlier post) and puts fillings in it like sorrel that she picks wild around her house... Sorrel is my idea of heaven. She also uses other inedible weeds... Things that grow among the potatoes... Stinging nettle... She is a poet with a pot.
hungry
